IRIS TTU

The IRIS TTU is a compact, self-sufficient vehicle tracking device that is powered solely by solar energy to provide comprehensive and continuous information regarding status and location in real-time. It can be configured to monitor and transmit a wide range of vehicle data including: temperature, door movements, journey history or any other aspects that may affect the performance and/or safety of the vehicle.

The devices are used predominantly by haulage companies where accurate trailer tracking is vital for efficiency and logistical purposes. They may also be used by industries where parameters such as temperature control and door movements must be regularly monitored and a complete audit trail provided - the refrigerated transportation, pharmaceutical and biomedical industries, for example.

The TTU is designed to transmit positional data every five minutes 24x7 from a moving vehicle and every 6 hours from a stationary vehicle. When a vehicle reaches its journey end-point (where the speed calculated is <= 2 KPH) the device automatically enters into sleep mode to conserve power.

The TTU also comprises a "locate-on-demand" option so if the unit is unexpectedly "woken up" (as a result of vehicle movement caused by high winds, for example) it is able to determine whether a trailer is still stationary or on the move and start transmitting appropriate data to a centralised server as a result.

The TTU is enclosed in a tough polycarbonate casing that is water resistant to IP67, It is structurally resilient and highly robust, enabling it to withstand extreme weather conditions such as high winds or heavy rainfall. The TTU is usually mounted on the trailer roof and its compact design satisfies the mounting requirements of the majority of haulage companies.

The TTU comprises a LiPO battery for power storage and backup purposes and has an operational shelf-life of at least 5 years. The device also comprises a highly efficient internal power management system, enabling it unit to be self-sufficient, even in low-light winter months.

The TTU is programmed to carry out a self-diagnostic health check every 28 days, irrespective of usage, to ensure optimum performance. Battery back-up data is included in the report. Collected data is transmitted via GPRS or SMS in real-time to a central server where it can be accessed and analysed via different applications.

The TTU can be mounted on a number of different vehicle types including: lorries, trailers, ships, trains and caravans.
