About Us
IRIS Technology was formed in 2001 to address offshore subsea telemetry markets and is now one of the leading specialist telematics companies in Europe. Solutions span markets as diverse as Automotive and Offshore Oil and Gas. IRIS telemetry technology is available for every type of communications media from Fibre Optic and WiFi to GSM and CDMA.
IRIS Technology's partners and customers use as much or as little of the technology and services as is required to meet the demands of their own customers. Technology is provided as turnkey solution(s) or as component(s) in a much larger value added offering for customers.
Core applications and services offered include:
Remote Data Acquisition - IRIS's most advanced GSM based telemetry products are used by the world's Automotive OEMs and tier one suppliers to acquire and process test data from vehicles in the field. The flexibility of the hardware combined with the processing power of nCode Automation or National Instruments software provides a seamless vehicle management, data acquisition and processing solution.
Asset Management - High fuel prices and the demanding logistical requirements of global distribution systems require a specialist solution that provides more than basic tracking. IRIS Vehicle Asset Management solutions comprise off the shelf hardware and software solutions for service providers in the distribution and logistics market.
Vehicle Monitoring - A number of Europe's leading stolen vehicle tracking service providers turned to IRIS to provide a product capable of meeting the exacting standards required by the Thatcham Category 5 standard. The IRIS products are in service with leading providers in the UK.
IRIS developed a solution for leading supermarket chains in the UK who were concerned about the shelf life of perishable goods. The solution from IRIS provided positional data once every five minutes over a twelve hour period each day of the year. Power to the tracking unit was provided by back up batteries and solar energy, with data communication between the trailer tracking unit and the host server provided by GPRS.
Remote Telemetry and Diagnostics The IRIS telematics platforms incorporate IRIS remote communication protocol. The IRIS protocol allows users to be simultaneously connected to multiple remote instruments or sub-systems via a network structure supported by GSM, ADSL or Optical Fibre and compatible with automotive CAN and MOST networks. The protocol is also supported by leading network protocols including TCP/IP and Ethernet. The IRIS protocol was developed to meet the demands of the offshore industry to provide mission critical, control and communication with remote vehicles and sub-systems located on the seabed. IRIS is incorporated in ground penetrating radar systems developed by ExxonMobil and Statoil.
IRIS is currently working under the auspices of the Technology Strategy Board along with three other engineering firms on a project that will provide the UK economy with a world leading capability in tracking the environmental cost of transporting goods; offering the potential for consumer demand to encourage greater local sourcing. This could lead to significant regional economic stimulus.
The flexibility of our core technologies - digital video, data acquisition, data compression and data telemetry - breaks down traditional boundaries allowing cross-fertilisation between markets. IRIS' products and cutting edge technologies deliver advanced functionality according to your needs.
