VEHICLE MONITORING

Developing technical solutions capable of providing a robust data connection on the global system for mobile communications requires much more than an understanding of data communications.

The structure of the GSM network means that data products will regularly become disconnected from the network requiring the device to be capable of managing the communication link in such a way as to not loose or corrupt data when the device is suddenly disconnected.

Real time data compression algorithms are required to maximise the effectiveness of the device given the limited bandwidth available. Most importantly efficient software multiplexing is an essential part of any solution required to balance the conflicting demands of multi-channel applications such as acquiring data from the vehicle CANBus.

The IRIS Communications Protocol was originally developed for the challenging environment of the offshore oil and gas sectors and is now used on IRIS products that use the GSM communications network.
